Tom Binns of the 'Tough Talk' jewelry collection fame is back with his new Spring/Summer 2012 collection. His nonconformist designs in jewelry have captured the imagination of many fans including celebrities like lady Gaga, Beyonce and Michelle Obama.
The current jewelry collection emphasizes on decadence and revolution and is projected to be an absolute hit with lovers of original creations. The jewelry designer combines neon hues with beads and crystals in an exquisite way. The designer has also incorporated modern messages and other cameo elements to give the collection a modern feel. The new collection has a more provocative theme and combines the glam with the wearable. The Tom Binns Design has been in business since 2004 and has managed to take jewelry design to an altogether different level. The jewelry in the current collection has made intricate use of baguettes and hand painted beads to give a glamorous look. The Swarovski crystals add more oomph to the outfits without robbing it of its utility.

It's funny what can begin a conversation sometimes. What turned out to be a significant first encounter was sparked by a hair comb that I happened to be wearing while looking at Panerei watchess. I was in Florence, and wanted to take in as much of authentic Italian design as possible, regardless whether it was for my gender or not! I even looked at some men's suits, for instance, simply to appreciate the exquisitely fine tailoring! So as I was looking at the watches, a nearby man who was looking at watches in order to actually acquire one spoke to me about my hair comb. He said it had been a while since he had seen a woman wear one and how lovely it was. I was flattered and, to my surprise, the conversation really took off from there. He eventually even asked me which of the two watches he had picked out seemed best to me. I had fun with that since I love design! We hit it off so well that we went for a coffee at a beautiful Florentine café together, sitting outside under a beautiful umbrella. I was really glad I had worn that hair comb! In fact, it had been a long time since I had worn something to adorn my head other than a hat…I did it on a whim, so it felt all the more fun that it also led me to a whimsically encountered new acquaintance!

In 2011, there was a boom in the online market where many jewelry designers where able to showcase their products and sell their jewelry online. This lead to many online bloggers being worldwide known for their talented skills in creating very unique and one of a kind pieces that were sold on websites such as Esty.

Popular cat blogger and self-proclaimed "cat lady" Kate Benjamin wants to do away with the unfashionable stigma attached to that label. So she has teamed up with a jewelry designer and fellow cat lover Heidi Abramson to create unique cat hair bead jewellery.

She found that this was a perfect way to do something fun with her cats leftover fur after she brushed them. Benjamin decided to try hand-rolling the loose fur between her palms, and discovered that the strands felted together, forming a solid little bead. Heidi then transformed the beads using her silver smiting skills into necklaces, brooches and other jewelry pieces.

For those who want to try this at home, Benjamin recommends that you keep the fur in a loose pile before felting, otherwise you can end up with odd-shaped balls, and it takes some practice. Also Benjamin recommends using fur from short-haired cats.
